Transforming what a house is

All design  is problem solving and one of the biggest problems in America is the cost of  housing. Labor, materials, land and financing are expensive. Governments are coming up with plans  to reduce costs, but

we think these are modest solutions at best. We think the way to dramatically reduce the cost of a single family home , the real trophy most people want, is to radically change what a home is and  how it’s built.

If homes were built more like cars with the volume production expectatation of at least 100,000 units.  we know the price could go down and the quality could go up.

Monarch will use higher cost/ high production tooling to create lower cost per piece components.  Producing parts this way speeds up production,  reduces labor and eliminates waste compared to traditional building materials and processes.

Think Tesla Giga casting as a good example.

Vertical is the new Birdical.  Going vertical reduces  the amount of land required or allows a full size lot to be used for flora, fauna and fun.  A smaller  footprint reduces the cost of the foundation and Monarch has a much lower cost anchoring system ready,  Large  insulated  UV protective tinted glass panels, let users enjoy the view of being higher. It’s  an intoxicating pleasure to be higher and everyone should get this. A vertical home also offers the benefit of better long term health . Climbing 4 flghts of stairs will keep the inhabitants healthier longer And, if  injury or age makes the stairs a problem , every Monarch is ready  to be fitted with a lift similar to what wind turbine technicians use to ascend up  the turbines 260 ft. – 910  ft ladders.

Another goal for Monarch is  to delight or disrupt  the user as to what a house can be. I know when I first got into a  friend’s Tesla Model 3 in 2018, it was remarkable, even  initially disorienting.  But after a few minutes, the disorientation turn into delight. When an owner  walks into  a Monarch, we want to elicit that same feeling.

What a house needs to be was also questioned. We think a house has to do the following:  protection from the elements, be a place to sleep,  prepare meals, eat,  dispose of waste, entertain, relax, work, and create future generations, store your possessions, all privately. Monarch recognizes that the need for walls for images and pictures may be waning. People store images and all media in their devices. and then share them with other’s devices,. The Monarch home will have large  high definition displays ready to play that media and other connected streams. Like a premium car, audio will be built in.

Land in the most desirable cities is the most costly part of a home.  First ,Monarch decouples house and land, though to buy a Monarch  home  customers will  need to  have a place to put their Monarch.

We imagine  privately  owned lots, and Monarch Reserves  where homes can be delivered  plugged into and  clustered. for short term and long term.

A Monarch home can be easily moved by semi truck  and craned onto a new location

Another problem this approach addresses  is that home builders, even the biggest and  most  factory built want to provide endless choices of both color, materials and finishes but also hardware and appliances. This craziness just adds cost and complexity. A Monarch home is totally vertically integrated. Monarch will make or at least spec every component. The lighting, faucetry , the plumbing , electrical,  entry systems, windows, security,  HVAC system, floor tile etc. are all Monarch  and all app controlled. Even the primary furniture  is built in or included included. Just  like your BMW  components are all buiy or spec’d by BMW.

Thanks to the above the big idea is  “everybody  gets an iPhone”, meaning: when the iPhone first came out there was little choice but everyone got this great device that replaced 100 other products. Tesla initially did this as well with the model 3 and Y and still does to some extent but it was clearer in the first years  of the introduction.  A  handful of exterior colors, 2 interior  colors and that was it. To load up a 3 series BMW  at similar level is still thousands more.  Monarch will provide its owners with tremendous value right from the start.

Here's the smaller Monarch, M1, shown with its glass front facade open and closed. This is the simplest embodiment with just hinges. We're feeling like a pop -out and slide open around the structure may be better for windy conditions,
